DESCRIPTION:
APW - Cornell Watch Co, San Francisco, 11-15J, 18S, 4oz coin silver Am Watch Co HC recase with gold hinges, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#24624. An attractive example from this scarce and short-lived maker, the Cornell Watch Co. of San Francisco was only in operation between 1874 and 1876.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after a twist to start, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent gilt tone, plates with some scattered small spots; excellent dial with some scattered small light brown spots of discoloration, some small edge flakes under bezel at lower right and upper left; excellent hands, hour and minute with some small bits of oxide and finish loss; case with weak front lift spring which needs help through its initial opening motion before proceeding to open lid the remainder under its own power, case shows very light wear, small shallow crease type dent to front adjacent lower left edge of engraving detail, mild dent to band at 7:30, prominent crease type dent to lower right of rear, shallow dent to central left of rear, good engraving detail; tight bow, push shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
